Happy Halloween!

but that's as far as my Halloween celebrations go!

Australians don't really 'do' Halloween...

You will just have to put up with seeing what I have been up to!

I am participating in a Christmas Table Runner Swap over on Flick'r...

And after a couple of 'false starts' involving Christmas trees,

it has finally come together!

I am rather pleased with its crisp, clean look...

which I will add some simple hand quilting to!

Fingers crossed my partner will like it too!

I've even organised the binding....

This cute little dish I picked up in Sportsgirl yesterday...

I contemplated keeping it as a gift,

but not for long!

I found a perfect use for it!!!

Happy days!

Blogger's Quilt Festival!

"My Favourite Things Quilt" has been some time in the making.....

Some of these blocks came from Round 1 of the Embroider-Bee over at Flick'r....

And some came from Round 2!

So thank you 'Lethargic Lass' and 'Threaded Nest' and 'Sassypacks' and

'Giveitago' and 'Miesmama' and '2mayboys'.....

This quilt is as much yours as it is mine!

I added a couple of blocks of my own and hand quilted it with some perle and

Aurifil thread!

And now it is complete!

With its pretty red and white striped binding!

And a pieced back...

It is not a big quilt, only about 44 inches square!

But it is a much loved one!

We have a lot in common......

with the Farmer's Wife!

These members of Denyse's family may look subtly different...

No. 111 "Wrench"

and obviously have different names,

but they are all made up of squares, rectangles and HSTs..
.
No. 71 "Puss in the Corner"

of different sizes, combinations and colours.....

No. 20 "Churn Dash"

But, I think, they are definitely brothers and sisters!

And how cute are these?

They were made my blogging friend, Hadley over at

as part of a competition here!

Go over and vote for these amazing individual luggage tags she has made

as part of a Japanese Scrap Challenge!

Then drop in on Hadley and say hi!

Nature's Colour

Whether you are experiencing Fall or Spring in your part of the world,

whether you are a Farmer's Wife or not,

Nature's Colour is always around us....

the "Rainbow Flowers" of Spring...

of the "Autumn Tints" of Fall.

(Although it seems  I'm a little confused about

which colour goes with which season!)

Happy sewing!

WIPS Wednesday- A Progress Report

I thought you might like to see how I've been progressing with some of my

current projects...

Thanks to everyone who took the time to make suggestions about the quilting on

my "Favourite Things" Quilt.

I chose to do another simple line of quilting to frame each of the blocks.

You can't tell from this photo but the new quilting is in a fabulous aqua variegated

thread!

A full reveal, when it's finished, coming up next week, I hope!

I have spent some time on my Christmas Table Runner for a Flick'r swap....

these are two ideas I have been playing around with!

And I added the outer pieces to my Queen of May 'orphan' block...

it's looking a little pink, but I think that it will tone down when I get the corner

pieces in place!

And here are all my Farmer's Wife blocks living in harmony...

I wonder how many more of these I have in me?

What have you been working on this week?

Sewing with the Farmer's Wife

A little more time was spent with the Farmer's Wife this week, at the LQS,

building up our relationship!

We browsed the aisles and bought....

# 84

a "Spool"...

and

# 74
 Ribbons....

and together puzzled over the calico...

 # 16 "Calico Puzzle"
And here we are playing nicely together!

We are still friends!

Happy days!

A Spot of Decorating...

The idea started with this lovely fabric from my dear friend Mary...

Sorry - it does need an iron!

and was made into this......

Well, this is the back, actually!

The back of this......

I'm loving my new cushion!

I want to make another cushion using the bike fabric as a feature on the front!

And a trip to Ikea scored me some fabric to match....

Not a bad purchase, for less than $5.00!

Now I'd like your advice on this....

I have hand quilted quite extensively in the blocks of my "Favourite Things" Quilt......

but does it need quilting in the blue sashing pieces?

I have some lovely variegated Auriful thread in aqua which I would really love to use!

But does it need it AND how would I quilt it?

Making Friends with the Farmer's Wife!

While many of our blogging friends are living it up at the Sewing Summit,

I spent some quality time with the Farmer's Wife this weekend!

The Friendship is developing slowly....

# 39 "Friendship"

without too much un nitpicking.....
I really like this block!
#40 "Friendship Block"

(But you gotta wonder about the creativity of the names for some of these

blocks!)
#41 "Friendship Star"

There is not a lot of contrast in this block, but that's okay too.....

Friendships are built on commonalities, don't you think?

And here are all the blocks, playing nicely together, if I do say so myself!

How did you spend your weekend?

With friends, I hope!

Happy days!

Scrap Happy!

I'm participating in a new Flickr swap called Scrappy Swap

organised by Flutter from.Kat

(but more about her later)!

Besides sending scraps of fabric to my partner, I need to make a 'small scrap

inspired goodie'....

This is the first thing I have tried out...

A little thread catcher, perfect for catching all those threads while my partner is

hand stitching!

Or maybe my partner might like this little mug rug....

And the binding is not that wonky in real life, trust me!

What would you choose, partner?

Kat, our Swap Mama, has requested help with her "Cheeky Quilt"....

and this is what I'm sending along!

No charm packs, jelly rolls, fat quarters or yardage were harmed during the

making of this block!

ALL SCRAP!

What are you making from your scraps?

Happy days!
