Simply New....

As promised I have started a new and simple

patchwork project!

I started cutting out 2.5" squares from my scraps

about eighteen months ago...

So I decided it was time to dive in and go for it....

making 16-patch blocks....

I need 50 of these for the plan I have...

an idea I saw on Pinterest...

And here it is waiting to be pieced together!

I hope to get it together this week sometime.....

(edited: a full tutorial can be found here )

Happy sewing!

SUZ

I love this quilt, I think it's going to be a hit like Tartan Plaid. I'm going to spend some time reading your fabrics.

Lovely scrappy and such fun to see all those different fabrics, some familiar and some new to me!

I love the idea of cutting the squares over a long period of time. It gets overwhelming to think about otherwise!

I love all that inspiration ... and I do have a tin of that sized squares. In fact, I see some very familiar fabrics among those blocks.

Amazing! Did you piece it randomly or did you have a plan putting the 16 pieces together? What size does 50 blocks make? I don't have much of 2.5" collection but will be making a conscious effort to do so from now on so I can make one of these also. Love it!

Making 16-patch blocks has been on my bucket list for a long time. I love your layout and I may copy it if you don't mind!

Such a fun way to use up scraps. I love a scrappy quilt and cannot wait to see how yours turns out.

Sometimes the simplest patchwork is the best! I think this would also be a great idea for using up those mini packs of fabric that I always seem to acquire. Very fun!

That does look good!! So simple yet extremely effective. Love the way the blocks are offset. Wonderful way to use up scraps!! Hope you get time this week to work on it.

This is a really neat design, Susan! I think you picked a good one. Isn't it fun to see all the ways that 2-1/2" squares can be put together? The possibilities are endless!

I can’t either.

That looks awesome! I started doing one myself and call it my covid quilt since all the fabric was scraps from all the masks

Beautiful, how did you press? All one direction each square so as to nest? Gonna make one too, I have a lot of scraps waiting for something lol!
