A Friday Finish!

My "Rollercoaster" quilt has been finished for a

couple of days now....

Quilted with Aurifil #1231

but today the sun came out for me to get some

pretty photos!

I love everything about this quilt, despite it being

started during a rather 'down' time of my life....

hence the Rollercoaster name!

I quilted it with a wavy line,

which you can see quite clearly here...

  It's a little like the track a

rollercoaster runs on!

I was thrilled to find the backing online,

at a bargain price!

The backing is "Sun-sational" by Maude Asbury

and the label is bordered with a precious scrap from

special friend!

I bound it with a white spotted black fabric.

The quilt finishes at approximately 54" X 72",

and is now living happily on the back on my sofa!

Happy sewing!

Gridster's Bee- June and July

For June, Mary asked for Confetti Stars...

made from this tutorial.

I have made this pattern before but didn't realise

that when I'd printed it out, it was a little small!

But the pattern I'd traced was used for my own

Gridster Sampler quilt blocks....

For July, Carol wanted a block to help her celebrate

America's special day...

And I made a practice block first....

to become part of my sampler!

The very easy-to-follow tutorial can be found here.

And here are all my blocks together!

Night and Day....

In the evenings,  I'm hand quilting this...

And in the day....

when time allows,

I'll be working on this!

Basted on tables for the first time!

Delilah-a progress report

There has been little time for sewing in my life

recently....

except for my Delilah blocks!

Even these have been made for a couple of weeks...

I tried to make one scrappier than the other....

in a hope to control the fussy nature of this quilt!

I have heard that there are many 'filler' blocks

required.....

so tonight I got started on some 3.5" pinwheels!

I'm counting the days until our 3 week, mid-year

break....

when I might just sew, and stitch and share!

Happy days!

Scrappy Stepping Stones

I thought I'd do a follow-up of my latest quilt!

I found a photo of a scrappy quilt on Pinterest that

sparked my interest, which lead me here.

But as there were no measurements, I worked out

my own.

Maybe you'd like to make a Scrappy Stepping Stones

quilt of your own....

I started with 2.5" squares,

making fifty 16-patch blocks...

I cut 49 white pieces from 1.3 metres of white,

tone-on-tone fabric

and you need another 8 side pieces, of 4 squares

each.

This will make a quilt that measures 68" by 72"

I may still put a white border around the outside....?

If you have any further questions please don't

hesitate to add a comment to this blogpost!

Happy sewing!
